JAY STEIN, CHAIRMAN AND CEO OF MCA RECREATION SERVICES GROUP, TO BECOME CONSULTANT

 UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Jay S. Stein, chairman and chief executive officer of the MCA Recreation Services Group and a vice president of MCA Inc., is continuing his long-term commitment to MCA through an agreement to become an active consultant to both the Recreation Group and the company, it was today announced by Sid Sheinberg, president and chief operating officer of MCA Inc.
 In making this decision, Stein said, "This shift to consultant will enable me to contribute to major creative decisions as well as long-term strategic planning, while at the same time allowing me more time with my family as well as other personal and charitable pursuits."
 Stein, 55, joined MCA Inc. in 1959 and has held a number of key executive positions within various departments of the company. In 1966 he was appointed president of the MCA Recreation Division. In 1973 Stein was named president of the MCA Recreation Services Group, which now includes Universal Studios Hollywood and Florida and Yosemite Park and Curry Co. In 1990 he was appointed chairman and chief executive officer, MCA Recreation Services Group.
 Under Stein's leadership, attendance at Universal Studios facilities has grown 622 percent. In 1966 Universal Studios Hollywood welcomed 804,000 visitors; today, more than 13 million people are served by the Hollywood, Calif. and Florida facilities.
 Sheinberg stated, "Jay Stein has made vital contributions to our company for over three decades and has guided Universal Studios Hollywood and Florida to their outstanding leadership position in the leisure industry. While he has chosen to give up the responsibility of overseeing these demanding entities, the fact that he will serve as an active consultant enables us to continue to avail ourselves of his expertise and his many years of valuable experience.
