JASA to honor Stephen Ross.
Leonard Boxer and Martin L. Edelman, this year's co-chairs and past award recipients, will be presenting the award.
Ross is the founder, Chairman, and CEO of The Related Companies, L.P. He formed the company in 1972 to develop, finance and manage government assisted rental apartments. Related currently ranks as the third largest owner of multifamily rental apartments in the country, with a portfolio of approximately 130,000 units in 44 states.
In New York City Related is a prominent developer of luxury apartments and mixed-use properties, including the new landmark development AOL Time Warner Center, currently under construction at Columbus Circle.
In addition to his many prestigious real estate awards, including "Owner & Developer of the Year" from New York Construction News, Ross has been honored time and again for his good works within the community at large. Henry Pearce, who served as Ross' mentor, recruited him for membership on the Board of the Jewish Association for Services for the Aged in 1979. Ross continues to serve on the Board as Associate Chairman.
Since 1968 the Jewish Association for Services for the Aged has provided social, health and recreation services that sustain aged New Yorkers in their homes and communities, helping to improve the quality of their lives. A portion of the proceeds from the event go to support the Henry and Sally Pearce Help Center, the focal point of more than 25,000 calls a year for help from the elderly and their families.
