JAMES G. HELD JOINS QVC AS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT; BLOOMINGDALE'S VETERAN TO HEAD-UP NETWORK'S NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

 WEST CHESTER, Pa., Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- QVC announced, today, that James G. Held will join the network in the position of senior vice president. Mr. Held, 41, will be responsible for all aspects of QVC's new business development, including the formation of new strategic alliances.
 In this capacity, he will oversee the company's new partnership with Tribune Entertainment and Regal Communications which recently announced the launch of a nationally syndicated shopping- and talk-show format featuring Joan Rivers, a regular QVC guest.
 "With Jim Held aboard to chart the course of QVC's new business development, we have filled a pivotal position in our senior management ranks," said Douglas Briggs, QVC executive vice president, in announcing Mr. Held's appointment. "We'll be drawing on Jim's impressive track- record at Bloomingdale's -- both to engineer new ways of expanding QVC's customer base and to attract to QVC a steady stream of the most creative and innovative marketing partners. Jim brings to QVC true merchandising skills and a diversity of experience from having successfully run some of Bloomingdale's largest and most profitable divisions."

 James G. Held joined Bloomingdale's in 1983, where he was, most recently, senior vice president/general merchandise manager - home textiles. During his 11-year career with the company, he served as general manager of the 59th Street flagship store and also headed-up the women's apparel, and cosmetics and fragrances divisions. Mr. Held served as a member of Bloomingdale's executive committee and its Financial Review Board.
 He is a graduate of Allegheny College and holds a J.D. degree from the Albany Law School at Union University.
