 JAMES EARL JONES CAST IN NEW REGENCY'S 'SOMMERSBY,'
 ALSO STARRING RICHARD GERE AND JODIE FOSTER
 BURBANK, Calif., June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Award-winning actor James Earl Jones, who has been honored for outstanding performances on stage, film and television, will star with Richard Gere and Jodie Foster in New Regency's tentatively titled "Sommersby," currently in production in Virginia for distribution by Warner Bros. The announcement was made today by Steven Reuther, president of New Regency Films.
 Jones will play the key role of a judge in the romantic drama set in the post-Civil War era. "Sommersby" is produced by Arnon Milchan and Steven Reuther and directed by Jon Amiel. The film is written by Nicholas Meyer, Sarah Kernochan and C. Gaby Mitchell.
 One of the entertainment's busiest and most respected talents, Jones will soon be seen in "Patriot Games," reprising the role he created in "The Hunt for Red October." He will also star in "Sneakers," with Robert Redford; Robert Townsend's "Meteor Man;" and "Excessive Force."
 An Oscar nominee for Best Actor in "The Great White Hope," Jones has also had roles in such motion pictures as "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb," "Matewan," "Gardens of Stone" and "Field of Dreams," and was the voice of arch-villain Darth Vader in the "Star Wars" trilogy.
 His stage roles include Tony-winning performances in "Fences" and "The Great White Hope," and he has also been honored with the Outer Circle Critics Award, the Theatre World Award, the Drama Desk Award, the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award and two Obie Awards for his work in live theater.
 Jones' recent television appearances include his starring role in the dramatic series "Gabriel's Fire," for which he received an Emmy and an NAACP Image Award this past year, and "Pros and Cons;" he also won an Emmy Award for his performance in the TNT telefilm "Heat Wave," and has received two ACE Awards for his other television work. In addition, Jones is a member of the NAACP Hall of Fame.
