JAMES E. CLARK APPOINTED VICE PRESIDENT OF NCR'S NEW SOFTWARE PRODUCTS DIVISION

 COLUMBIA, S.C., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- NCR Corporation announced today the appointment of James E. Clark to the position of vice president of the newly formed Software Products Division. The appointment is effective immediately.
 Clark was formerly general manager of the Cooperative Computing Systems Division based in Columbia, S.C. A company officer, Clark will consolidate and align NCR's software programs under one organization.
 "James will lead our efforts to create an organization with the critical mass and focus required to execute a winning software strategy for NCR," said Bill O'Shea, NCR senior vice president of the Network and Integrated Systems Group.
 Clark's new responsibilities will include the future direction and development of NCR COOPERATION, collaborative computing software; ProcessIT, workflow business management system; the StarGROUP networking software system; StarPro, enterprise messaging software, TOP END, transaction processing monitor, and the application development environment products.
 "James is an excellent coach who has managed complex organizations with a track record of high quality deliveries and a focus on customer satisfaction," said Jerre Stead, NCR chairman and chief executive officer. "We are delighted to have him bring leadership to this very important part of our business."
 In his previous position, Clark was responsible for the development of NCR COOPERATION and Process IT.
 Clark was formerly assistant vice president and general manager of the High Performance & Fault Tolerant Systems at NCR's Midrange Computer Products Division in Naperville. He successfully integrated AT&T's computer systems at Naperville into one of NCR's most profitable computer operations.
 Clark, 40, has a master's degree in marketing from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management, and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT.
