JAMES Bond star Sean Connery says he was "lucky" to escape the wrath of Hurricane Dorian.
Connery, 89, and wife Micheline, 90, live on New Providence in the Bahamas just 90 miles from the Abaco islands, trashed by the 185mph storm.
Dorian brought widespread flooding but New Providence escaped the worst. Sir Sean said: "We are both fine but thank everyone for their concern.
"We were lucky, damage was not great. We had been prepared."
A Royal Navy helicopter rescued a Briton trapped beneath rubble for days on Great Abaco. The Wildcat, from the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Mounts Bay, also saved a woman, her two kids and a baby.
So far 30 bodies have been recovered from flattened towns in the 700-island archipelago in the Caribbean. But the death toll is set to soar. Health minister Duane Sands said: "I believe the number will be staggering." At least 70,000 need urgent aid.
On Great Abaco, bodies were said to be piling up and there was no water, power or food. Dorian weakened yesterday as it moved north up the US East Coast, dumping heavy rain.
