JAMES BENNETT APPOINTED CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OF BIO-RAD

 HERCULES, Calif., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc. (AMEX: BIO.A and BIO.B) announced that James Bennett has been appointed chief operating officer of the company, replacing Tony Brown who has resigned for personal reasons. Brown will continue to serve as a director of Bio-Rad.
 Bennett has been group vice president of Bio-Rad's highly successful diagnostics operation. He is expected to place increased emphasis on improving the company's overall profitability.
 Norman Schwartz, who most recently was president of Bio-Rad's Japanese subsidiary, Nippon Bio-Rad, will fill the vacancy left by Bennett's promotion.
 Bio-Rad Laboratories is a multinational manufacturer and distributor of life science research products, clinical diagnostics and analytical instruments based in Hercules.
