JAGUAR CONFIRMS XJ220 FOR DETROIT IN JANUARY MAHWAH, N.J., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Jaguar's stunning 200 mph
supercar, the XJ220, is headed for Detroit as part of Jaguar's display at the North American International Auto Show.
The president of Jaguar Cars Inc., Michael H. Dale said: "In the metal this is a wonderful expression of automotive art. It showcases Jaguar's technology beautifully and is substantial evidence of Jaguar's ability to design and develop state of the art automobiles. The XJ220 has impressive road performance and only 350 examples will be built." The XJ220 will not be available for sale in the United States, but Jaguar believes the exciting coupe is of major interest to auto enthusiasts and notes the growing stature of the auto show in Detroit is an important focal point for major automotive developments. The Jaguar XJ220 topped 212 mph in speed trials at the Fort Stockton proving ground in Texas earlier this year, making it the world's fastest production car.
