JAGUAR ANNOUNCES RECALL FOR SOME XJS MODELS

JAGUAR ANNOUNCES RECALL FOR SOME XJS MODELS
MAHWAH, N.J., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Jaguar Cars Inc. will contact

owners of some 1989, and all 1990 and 1991 model year V12 XJS owners asking them to bring their cars to their local Jaguar dealer for a minor modification to be carried out to the ignition system.
As a result of investigations by the company, it has been established that on these cars there is a possibility that the high tension lead from the ignition coil to the distributor can be disturbed in service, from its original location. This may cause the lead to come into contact with the fuel injector hose resulting in possible ozone degradation of the hose. In extreme cases of degradation, the hose may crack or split and this may result in fuel leakage and the remote possibility of a fire in the engine compartment.
The work will take a maximum of two hours and will be carried out with a minimum of inconvenience to customers.
Jaguar Cars Inc. says about 11,000 cars are affected by this service action.
