JACQUES NOELS APPOINTED PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF ZENITH DATA SYSTEMS

PARIS, France, and BUFFALO GROVE, Ill., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Compagnie des Machines Bull today announced that Jacques Noels has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Zenith Data Systems, Bull's personal computer organization, replacing Enrico Pesatori. Pesatori will leave ZDS on Jan. 22 to assume a post with another company.
Noels, whose appointment is effective today, comes to Bull from Nokia Consumer Electronics, where he served as president. He joined Nokia in 1988. In his role as president of ZDS, he will report directly to Bull Chairman and CEO Bernard Pache and serve as a member of Bull's Groupe Executive Committee.
Pache said, "The ZDS management team has accomplished much during Mr. Pesatori's tenure." He pointed to the company's "excellent" long- term product strategy, which he said has been very well received by the market.
"ZDS will remain an independent organization within Groupe Bull, in order to take into account the distinctive characteristics of this market, particularly the extremely short development cycles," Pache said.
Noels, 52, began his career in 1965 with Texas Instruments, where he held a variety of posts. In 1982, he joined Thomson S.A., the European electronics giant, where he spent six years and held a number of top- level positions, including executive vice president of Thomson's Electronic Components Group and chairman of Thomson-Mostek Corp. (USA).
Pesatori joined Zenith Data Systems in January 1991 after a 21-year career at Olivetti.
Zenith Data Systems, a Bull company, is a leading supplier of notebook and desktop PCs, servers, monitors and related peripherals. With headquarters in Buffalo Grove, Ill., the company has engineering facilities in St. Joseph, Mich., Santa Clara, Calif., and Billerica, Mass.; manufacturing facilities in St. Joseph, Mich., and Villeneuve d'Ascq, France; and sales locations in more than 30 countries.
