JACOBS RECEIVES PLASTICS PRODUCTION EMISSIONS REDUCTION CONTRACT
PASADENA, Calif., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today receipt of a contract from GE Plastics to provide engineering, design and offsite construction for a multi- million dollar stripper system at GE Plastics' Washington, W. Va., site. The value of Jacobs' contract was not disclosed.
The announcement was made by Jacobs'Group Vice President Alvin S. Rapp who said GE Plastics developed its stripping technology to reduce potential acrylonitrile emissions during polymer plastics production. The technology removes significant levels of residual contaminants from latex intermediates. The technology has been successfully employed at GE Plastics plants in Scotland and Holland.
The technology is new to U.S. polymer production, Rapp said. "Jacobs' experience with adapting existing engineering processes, our extensive background in polymers and our offsite (modular) construction expertise give us a unique advantage in understanding the complexity of this project," he added.
The multiple modules to be supplied under this contract will fit into a tightly confined space within the GE plant. Jacobs will assemble the modules in their Orangeburg, S.C., facility. They will be shipped to the plant and assembled with minimal disruption to plant operations.
