JACOBS RECEIVES AWARD OF MERIT FOR DESIGN OF BORDEN HYPER PLANT (JACOBS ENGINEERING GROUP)

JACOBS RECEIVES AWARD OF MERIT FOR DESIGN OF BORDEN HYPER PLANT
LAKELAND, Fla., March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it has been named an Award of Merit winner in the Associated Builders and Contractors'(ABC) Second Annual Excellence in Construction Awards Program. The award recognizes the innovation, quality and vision of a winning project's construction team. Jacobs was selected as the winning architect/engineer for its design of the Borden Foodservice Hyper Plant Electrical System in Jackson, Miss.
The Jackson project involved construction of a new 440,000-square- foot food production operation within an existing structure. Jacobs transformed the site into a "hyperplant" -- Borden's term for a state- of-the-art, highly efficient facility with low-cost production economics. The Jacobs design was installed by Moses Edwards Joint Venture.
The award, presented at the national convention of the ABC, was accepted for Jacobs by Dave Pearce, operations manager of Jacobs' Lakeland office. At the special ceremony on Saturday, March 14, in Orlando, Fla., Pearce expressed Jacobs' pleasure in receiving the award. "We couldn't be more delighted to accept this honor. It comes on the heels of a similar award we received for our mechanical design on the same Borden plant last year. Jacobs has been pleased to have been involved in three such plant designs in a cooperative effort between our Cincinnati, Martinez (Calif.) and Lakeland offices. We look forward to continuing to meet the challenges presented on demanding projects such as these."
Jacobs Engineering Group, headquartered in Pasadena, Calif., provides single-source consulting, engineering, design, architectural, environmental and hazardous waste management, procurement, construction, construction management, contract maintenance and operations services to government and industry worldwide. Jacobs has 22 offices located throughout the United States and Ireland.
