JACOBS RECEIVES $35 MILLION MTBE PLANT CONTRACT FROM TOSCO

MARTINEZ, Calif., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it will engineer and construct a new MTBE unit to be installed at Tosco's Martinez refinery.
Work, which has already begun, will continue through October 1993. Jacobs announced a $35 million contract value for the project which has a total constructed value of $39 million.
Jacobs is supplying engineering, procurement, modular assembly and on-site construction management for the new unit. The scope of work includes both the on-plot process units and all associated off-plot utility systems, methanol unloading and storage facilities as well as product transfer.
The plant's on-plot process unit is based on licensed CDTech technology. This standard design makes extensive use of large process modules which are assembled in Jacobs' Orangeburg, S.C., facility and shipped to the Martinez refinery for installation by field construction forces. This is the third major MTBE installation employing Jacobs modularization this year.
