GREENVILLE, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 1996--Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE:JEC) announced today that Jacobs-Sirrine Engineers, a division of Jacobs, has been awarded the design engineering for Kimberly-Clark Corporation's $172 million expansion of its tissue manufacturing operations in Beech Island, S.C.

The 325,000-square-foot addition to the Beech Island facility will house a state-of-the-art tissue machine -- the first of its kind in the United States -- and associated converting lines. With advanced through air-dried technology, the machine will more efficiently manufacture tissue with superior strength, softness, and absorbency.

"This proprietary technology will enable us to make our Kleenex(R) family of tissue products even better," said Thomas J. Falk, Kimberly-Clark's group president, North American Tissue, Pulp and Paper. "Kleenex(R) is one of the fastest growing brands in the tissue category, and this investment will further enhance our growth in the premium segment of the U.S. market," he added.

Roger Williams, Jacobs' group vice president, commented, "This project is an extension to the successful working relationship that has existed between Kimberly-Clark and Jacobs-Sirrine for many years."

Construction on the facility is anticipated to begin this summer, with start-up of the new machine by the end of 1997. This expansion is expected to add up to 150 employees to the present Beech Island employment of about 1,000.
