JACOBS ANNOUNCES SELECTION FOR ENGINEERING AND DESIGN OF DRY BULK TERMINAL IN PORT OF LOS ANGELES

 PASADENA, Calif., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it has been selected by the LAXT Corp. to negotiate a contract for the materials handling system engineering, design, construction support and start-up assistance for a 20 million-ton per year dry bulk terminal at Pier 300 in the Port of Los Angeles. The expected value of the contract was not disclosed. The estimated cost of construction for this portion of the terminal is $100 million. The new terminal is part of the Port of Los Angeles' 2020 Program.
 "This will be one of the largest bulk marine terminals in North America," states Jacobs Group Vice President Al Rapp. "This project is extremely important to both the LAXT Corp. and Jacobs. It is in our backyard, and we are committed to provide LAXT with the best resources available to successfully complete this important project."
 The facility to be designed will include unloading, storage, reclaim and shiploading conveying systems for dry bulk materials, including coal and petroleum coke. The coal will be shipped in by train from states +est of the Rockies and loaded on ships for transportation overseas. Jacobs will be engineering all conveyance systems, storage facilities, buildings, utilities and environmental control systems.
 LAXT Corp. is a newly formed conglomeration of companies that have been assembled for the purpose of installing and operating the Los Angeles Export Terminal (LAXT).
 The Port of Los Angeles is now the nation's busiest port. Vern Hall is the port's chief harbor engineer, and Linden Nishinaga is the port's project manager assigned to this project. Steve Hill will serve as Jacobs project manager.
