JACK HAS VILLA ON CLOUD 9; Grealish keeps win streak going ...and helps send Trotters down.

JACK GREALISH and Tammy Abraham combined to conjure up Villa's ninth straight win and confirm the Trotters' demotion.

Dean Smith's side are set to hit the play-offs as the Championship's form side after suffering Wembley heartache a year ago.

As for Bolton, their entire season has been agony, and boss Phil Parkinson knows he might be out of a job should the EFL ratify a takeover by former Watford owner Laurence Bassini.

"If I was on the outside looking in, I'd see my record of promotions from that division and think I was a good bet," Parkinson said.

"But I know the new owner may have his own ideas and I would have to discuss the matter with my family."

Bassini was in the stands to see the latest instalment of a dire campaign in which players have refuse to train over unpaid wages add the club has teetered towards administration. "It has been chaos," said Parkinson after a club-record 27th league defeat.

"A lot of damage has been done to the reputation of a great club and it's vital now that we start to mend it."

Villa last won nine on the bounce in 1910 and manager Dean Smith, said: "No living person will have seen the last run so I am proud of the players. We have to go all out to try to break the record on Monday against Millwall. We want to keep the momentum."

Grealish opened the scoring two minutes into the second half after Abraham picked him out with inswinging cross.

The lead was doubled 10 minutes later when Abraham bravely headed home his 25th goal of the season. But it came at a cost, as he quickly left the field nursing a shoulder injury.
