JACK C. GRANGER NAMED PRESIDENT OF MK'S CONSTRUCTION GROUP
BOISE, Idaho, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Jack C. Granger, a 26-year Morrison Knudsen Corp. (MK) (NYSE: MRN) veteran who has had a hand in some of the company's most challenging projects, has been named president of MK's Construction Group.
Granger, formerly vice-president of MK's Specialty Division, will report directly to William J. Agee, the company's chairman and chief executive officer.
"This well-deserved promotion underscores what we in the company have known for a long time: Jack Granger is an outstanding construction leader," said Agee. "He came up through the ranks and has been instrumental in securing and overseeing some of our major projects, including our recent winning of the $1.1-billion Honolulu rapid transit project. He also worked closely with me on our acquisition last year of 49-percent interest in McConnell Dowell, an Australia-based construction company."
Granger's major project management assignments for MK included work at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. As vice-president of the Specialty Division, he recently expanded MK's presence in marine operations with a quarter-of-a- billion-dollar underwater highway project in Boston Harbor.
Granger earned a civil engineering degree from Washington State University and joined MK in 1965.
"Our goal for MK's construction business is to continue to balance big, long-term design-build projects with lump-sum, hard-dollar heavy construction projects," said Granger. "I look forward to this challenge -- it's a construction hand's dream."
In related news, MK announced that Roy Cline, formerly president of the Construction Group, is leaving the company, effective today.
