J2 COMMUNICATIONS REPORTS FIRST NATIONAL LAMPOON VIDEO TO FEATURE ROGER CLINTON

LOS ANGELES, June 24 /PRNewswire/-- J2 Communications (NASDAQ: JTWO), the diversified entertainment firm that owns National Lampoon, today said its first direct-to-video feature film will feature Roger Clinton, brother of President Clinton, in a supporting role opposite two veteran actors.
Company officials said production of the film, "National Lampoon's Last Resort," reflects the firm's rapidly expanding activities in filmed entertainment. Clinton will be featured along with actors Corey Haim and Corey Feldman in the film, which is being produced by Toronto-based Rose & Ruby Productions.
Scheduled for release in early 1994, the film will be taken directly to the $11.4 billion domestic home video rental market by Vidmark Entertainment, one of the nation's leading independent video distributors. Famous Players will distribute the video in Canada, and all other international rights have been licensed to 21st Century Film Corp.
"We're extremely pleased to be entering yet another new market with National Lampoon comedy," said J2 President and Chief Executive Officer James P. Jimirro. "We established a benchmark with the enormous success of our first feature film, 'National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon I,' and we expect 'Last Resort' to match that success."
According to Jimirro, the president's brother appeared recently in the live stage production, "National Lampoon's Lemmings II," a reprise of the 1960s-era touring show that launched the careers of John Belushi, Chevy Chase and Gilda Radner.
The company's "National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon I" comedy feature was produced by New Line Cinema as the first of a three-film contract. Since its February release, it has grossed nearly $30 million. A second New Line film is now is being readied.
J2 Communications acquired National Lampoon in late 1990. Since that time, the Los Angeles-headquartered company has re-invigorated the comedy franchise through a series of ventures in nearly every category of leisure time activity, including feature and made-for-video films, television comedy, computer games, trading cards and comedy cruises.
