J.D. POWER III PRESENTS SALES SATISFACTION AWARD TO CHEVROLET
WARREN, Mich., Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Power III, president and founder of the prestigious J.D. Power and Associates organization, today presented his 1992 Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) award for light trucks to Chevrolet.
Present along with Chevrolet sales and service officials was the chairman of Chevrolet's National Dealer Council, George W. Whitlow, owner of Whitlow Chevrolet in Richmond, Va.
Earlier this year, J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study -- which included full-size pickup trucks for the first time -- ranked the Chevrolet Full-Size Pickup as the new vehicle quality leader in its class.
"Today's award represents a terrific one-two punch for Chevy trucks," said Kurt L. Ritter, Chevrolet truck marketing manager. "It was the inclusion of the full-size trucks that helped clinch the victory for Chevrolet in the sales satisfaction category."
The sales satisfaction survey measures customers' perceptions of the sales experience, including performance of the dealer salesperson, the vehicle delivery experience and the initial condition of the product at delivery.
"What the dealer and his personnel do or don't do has a tremendous impact on the sales satisfaction scores," said Ronald F. Sobrero, Chevrolet assistant general sales manager, and Arthur J. Brock, sales manager service.
"That's why having our dealer council chairman, George Whitlow, here is so significant. This is a fantastic achievement for Chevrolet dealers," Sobrero and Brock said.
According to the Power survey, Chevy's full-size truck buyers' evaluations of their sales experience were 14 percent higher than the truck industry average.
