 CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AWARD TO APPLE COMPUTER
 NEW YORK, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Power III, president and founder of J.D. Power and Associates, today presented Apple Computer (NASDAQ: AAPL) the award for No. 1 Personal Computer Company in Customer Satisfaction. The award was presented in conjunction with Apple's launch of a new line of computers.
 The award signifies Apple's top-ranking position in a study that focuses on consumer feedback on attributes such as ease of use, reliability, software friendliness and customer support to be critical in their determination of satisfaction.
 At a luncheon commemorating the product launch, Power said, "Our most recent J.D. Power and Associates End User Satisfaction Study ranked over 35 computer, printer and software brands and featured a sample base of over 4,000 business sites across the country." He continued, "Personal computer users today have an increasing breadth of background and needs that result in higher expectations and demands. Apple Computer is obviously adapting to these rising expectations because their users have given them the best rating in the industry."
 J.D. Power and Associates year-long analysis in the 1991 study reveals that consumer demands give computer manufacturers reason to look at all of the components of customer satisfaction and not become over-focused on advanced technology.
 Other categories presented in the 629-page study included printer and software users. In those segments, Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HWP) received a No. 1 designation for printers and Borland International (NASDAQ: BORL) and WordPerfect tied for No. 1 among software companies.
