 J.D. POWER AND ASSOCIATES NAMES NEW PARTNER, NEW DIRECTORS
 AGOURA HILLS, Calif., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Power and Associates announced that Leonard Sherman has joined as a partner in charge of the firm's new East Coast office in Westport, Conn. The international marketing information and consulting firm also named William Congleton as director of Information Systems and Operations, Glenn Pincus as director of Design and Development Services, Sybil Flintoff as administrator of J.D. Power and Associates Dealer Roundtable Organizations, Margie Long as manager of human resources and William Vorhies as director of Tactical Consulting and Training.
 As head of J.D. Power and Associates' East Coast Strategic consulting practice, Sherman will be responsible for servicing the firm's expanding base of East Coast and European clients. To help develop the East Coast practice, Sherman will be joined by James Kielley, an outside consultant and retired chairman of Towers Perrin.
 Sherman joins J.D. Power and Associates from Booz, Allen & Hamilton Inc., a New York-based international management and technology consulting firm, where he was the partner in charge of the firm's North American Automotive Practice. In this capacity, Sherman directed assignments involving marketing, strategy and organizational and litigation support issues for vehicle manufacturers and suppliers in North America, Europe and Japan. Sherman has a Ph.D. in transportation economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master of science and bachelor of science in engineering from M.I.T.
 Congleton, as director of Information Systems and Operations, will have responsibility for optimizing the utilization of the firm's computer resources and for enhancing the firm's capacity to quickly and efficiently generate useful information products. Prior to joining J.D. Power and Associates, Congleton was a consultant/manager with United Research Co. of Morristown, N.J. He provided management consulting for North American and European clients in the areas of information processing, communications technologies and business integration. Congleton has a master of business administration and bachelor of arts from Harvard University and a master of science from Northeastern University.
 Pincus has been promoted to director of Design and Development Services and is responsible for project analysis, design and implementation in the Tactical Consulting and Training Practice. Prior to joining J.D. Power and Associates in 1989, Pincus was an independent consultant developing training, corporate communications and marketing materials for the automotive and high technology industries. He has designed numerous training and consulting programs for automotive clients, including Acura, Cadillac, Chrysler, Honda New Zealand and Latin America, General Motors-Canada and Mazda-Japan. Pincus is a graduate of the University of Redlands' School of Business and Management.
 Long will be responsible for initiating and managing personnel programs, resources and policies as the firm's manager of Human Resources. A graduate of San Francisco State University, Long was previously director of Human Resources with Asher/Gould Advertising. Her career experience also includes serving as director of Administration and Human Resources for Rogers & Cowan, a Los Angeles- based international public relations agency.
 Flintoff will be responsible for the administration of J.D. Power and Associates Roundtable organizations. In this capacity, she will be in charge of maintaining and procuring relationships with automobile dealers participating in the firm's International and Super Dealer Roundtables. Flintoff has been with J.D. Power and Associates for eight years and is a business graduate of Kirby College in Middlesbrough, England.
 Vorhies, director of Tactical Consulting and Training Services, will conceive and implement a range of strategic programs designed to help clients benefit from J.D. Power and Associates' marketing information. Vorhies comes to J.D. Power and Associates from Overseas Military Sales Corp., where he managed the distribution and marketing of General Motors vehicles in the international military personnel retail market. Previously, he was president of Vorhies & Associates, a San Diego-based management consulting firm. Vorhies has a bachelor of arts from Princeton University.
 The appointment of Vorhies is part of a continuing realignment of the Tactical Consulting and Training Services Practice. The realignment also provided for the internal promotion of five individuals to serve as account directors in charge of servicing clients that utilize the firm's marketing information products and consultancies.
 The following persons have been named account directors and will be working with Vorhies:
 Linda D. Hirneise -- Since joining J.D. Power and Associates nine years ago, Hirneise has been named a partner in charge of the international sales and marketing of the firm's research information products and consultancies. Her responsibilities include maintaining current business associations as well as generating new business among Asian and European automobile manufacturers and distributors. She holds a bachelor of science from Oregon State University and an M.A.E. from California Lutheran University.
 Bob Fitzharris -- Previously an automotive consultant with J.D. Power and Associates, Fitzharris brings 30 years of automotive industry experience to his new position. Prior to joining J.D. Power and Associates, he was with General Motors Corp. for 24 years where he specialized in Manufacturer-Dealer Relations.
 Dennis Ricci -- Ricci is a leading figure within the advertising and media circles of the automotive industry. Prior to joining J.D. Power and Associates as marketing director of Media and Advertising Services, he was director of Regional media for the Nissan Motor Corp. account at Chiat/Day/Mojo Advertising in Venice, Calif. He has a bachelor of science and a master of business administration from Wayne State University.
 Doris Werber Ehlers -- With more than 16 years of experience in the automotive industry, Ehlers brings a range of experiences in the areas of training and consulting. Prior to joining J.D. Power and Associates, she was National Dealer Affairs manager at Nissan Motor Corp., executive director of Dealer Operations at the National Automobile Dealers Association (N.A.D.A.) and was involved in a retail operation in Richmond, Va.
 Dan Canedo -- Canedo is responsible for directing J.D. Power and Associates' national network of training representatives as National Training manager. Canedo will bring a healthy blend of training, dealer sales and management experience to his new post as account director. He has a master of business administration from the University of Southern California.
 Founded in 1968, J.D. Power and Associates is an international marketing information and consulting firm headquartered in Agoura Hills, with additional offices in Detroit, Westport, and Tokyo. The firm specializes in documenting consumer opinion and assessing customer satisfaction for the automotive and personal computer industries.
