J.B. HUNT TRANSPORT ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION

 J.B. HUNT TRANSPORT ANNOUNCES ACQUISITION
LOWELL, Ark., April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- J.B. Hunt Transport Services

Inc.'s (NASDAQ-NMS: JBHT) subsidiary, J.B. Hunt Special Commodities, announced today the acquisition of the assets of Blann Tractor and Clean-Up Transport, Inc. located in Hampton, Ark.
Clean-Up Transport will help J.B. Hunt Special Commodities expand its services in hauling hazardous materials and hazardous wastes by providing end dump and tank trailers and through its established customer base.
"Clean-Up Transport is a premier company in the hazardous waste hauling industry," said Kirk Thompson, president and chief executive officer of J.B. Hunt Transport. "We are very excited to add them into the J.B. Hunt umbrella of transportation services offered to shippers."
All of the approximately 100 employees of Clean-Up Transport, including Bill Blann, president and former owner, will remain at the company. It will operate as Clean-Up Transport, a division of J.B. Hunt Special Commodities.
"The demand for hauling hazardous wastes and other hazardous materials, as well as the demand for a reliable resource for cleaning up these types of spills before they can damage the environment has been accelerating in recent years. In fact, the demand grew faster than our ability to expand," said Blann. "That's why we approached J.B. Hunt. Hunt has the ability to help us expand more rapidly to meet customers' demand for service. Plus, Hunt has an excellent reputation, so we know our current customers will continue to enjoy first-rate, and most importantly, safe service."
Hunt's attractiveness to Blann was also due to the large transport company's ability to help the much smaller, specialized trucking entity reduce operating costs. "Clean-Up will provide the same high service level it is known for but will now have the purchasing power and technological sophistication of the nation's largest truckload carrier," said Thomas Sanderson, president of J.B. Hunt Special Commodities.
Another reason Clean-Up Transport was interested in joining J.B. Hunt was Hunt's technological advancements.
Clean-Up was especially impressed with Hunt's testing of on-board computers designed by IBM. If the prototypes are satisfactory, Hunt is considering purchasing on-board computers for much of its equipment.
Clean-Up Transport has been in business since 1967. The operation will continue to be headquartered in Hampton, Ark.
J.B. Hunt Special Commodities' main operation is located inside J.B. Hunt Transport's corporate headquarters in Lowell, Ark. Prior to the acquisition, J.B. Hunt Special Commodities had 100 tractors, 150 trailers equipped with a secondary containment system, and 100 specialty trained drivers. An additional 70 tractors and 150 trailers will be added to the fleet through this acquisition.
