J. ALEXANDER'S QUALITY DINNER HOUSE TO OPEN IN COLUMBUS, OHIO

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Officials of Volunteer Capital Corporation (NYSE: VCC) said today they have broken ground on the fourth J. Alexander's restaurant, a 230-seat dinner house located in Columbus.
Lonnie J. Stout II, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said the new casual dining restaurant is expected to open toward the latter part of the first quarter of 1994.
 J. Alexander's is a casual, quality dinner house that features a menu tailored to today's tastes: mesquite-grilled steaks, seafood, chicken and prime rib of beef; pasta, salads, assorted sandwiches, appetizers and desserts.
Volunteer Capital presently operates two J. Alexander's restaurants in Nashville and Franklin, Tenn., and a third dinner house in Dayton, Ohio (opened late last year). Stout said the company is presently evaluating sites in several markets and is under contract in Oak Brook, Ill.
"Our restaurants are being extremely well received in their respective markets," said Dennis Cleary, vice president. "Sales in all three restaurants have exceeded our initial expectations. We are very encouraged with these sales trends and are confident they will continue to strengthen."
In addition to its J. Alexander's concept, Volunteer Capital Corporation currently operates 52 franchised Wendy's restaurants in four states. The company is headquartered in Nashville.
