Itkaf to start today amid security complains by PAT.
LAHORE -- Thousands of Muslims will observe Itikaf during the last 10 days of Ramazan, starting from Wednesday (today), in mosques of urban and rural Punjab.
In this regard, special arraignments were made in mosques, noteworthy among them are based in Lahore including Badshahi mosque, Data Darbar Mosque and Jamia Masjid Al-Qudsia and Shehr-e-itkaf organized by Tehrik-e-Minhaj ul Quran (TMQ) in Township.
All arrangements on the said mosques and other places have been completed, while registration of the people interested in Itikaf has also been finalised. However, PAT chief Dr Tahir ul Qadri, who would head gathering of 15,000 complained Punjab government for not providing security amid Itkaf sitting. According to officials of organizing committees at mosques housing major gathering of itkaf, only registered persons will be allowed to sit for Itikaf, while those who failed to get themselves registered may sit in mosques in their localities.
Special security arrangements are also being made for the last couple days of the holy month of Ramazan so that the believers can observe Itikaf without any fear. Police officials and volunteers have been deployed at entrances of mosques to avert possible terror acts.
