It was Labour who first introduced PFIs.

PRESUMABLY John Brewin (Birmingham Mail letters page, January 2) has a selective memory, either by accident or design.

In his hatred of the Conservative Party, he claims that they have wanted to break up the NHS for a very long time.

He conveniently forgets that it was the Labour Party who were the first to introduce privatised services and who also initiated PFI for the building of new hospitals.

This has been a financial disaster for the hospitals involved but it would not suit his argument to mention these, would it? Malcolm Sanders, Sutton Coldfield
