It is imperative to empower PCB Chairman, Nadeem.

LAHORE -- Former President, Lahore City Cricket Association, Khawaja Nadeem Ahmed has said that is imperative to empower the care taker Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Najam Sethi for taking important policy making decisions relating to the Board and its allied matters.

" A stalemate situation is being observed in the PCB as its care taker Chairman does not have the powers to take decisions on key issues regarding approval of the national teams , formation of the selection committee and policy making in the board ", he said here on Sunday while talking to reporter.

Nadeem said the ongoing situation and the indecisive role of the care taker Chairman have put a question mark on many cricket related issues which are not being decided and the PCB is in a powerless phase which is unfortunate for cricket.

Former LCCA Chief was of the view that PCB authorities are approaching the attorney general of Pakistan on daily basis for seeking apex court direction or informing them on important matters taking place in the PCB and to get their approval to ensure that these decisions are being made accordingly.

" So much so even the teams selected are being sent to them so that Chairman PCB may not be in violation of courts orders which have restricted his powers to day to day affairs after regional cricket association challenged his appointment in the court ",he said.

He said that the present arrangement under which the care taker chairman is working is not catering the needs of cricket in Pakistan and there is dire need to restore his powers in the larger interest of cricket and to improve country's image abroad .

" What message we are sending abroad that our care taker chairman can't decide anything about cricket and in such a scenario how other cricket boards across the world can support PCB on decision makings on certain issues regarding future tours of their teams to Pakistan and holding of their series at neutral venues as no foreign team is visiting Pakistan owing to security concerns for past many years ", he asserted.

Nadeem said the care taker chairman should be given the opportunity to run the affairs of the PCB the way other appointed Chairmen did in the past having full authority.

"He has been appointed as care taker and till that time when his term expires he should be given a decent treatment and he should be having all the powers to run the affairs of the Board in a way which is also decent and better for the Pakistan cricket and sends a positive message to the outer world ", he maintained.

The former LCCA Chief said Pakistan cricket badly needs to address many issues including formation a selection committee, organising of domestic tournaments, induction of team management with national senior and junior teams besides interaction with the other cricket board as well as with

International Cricket Council on regular basis to plead Pakistan's case for resumption of international cricket in Pakistan and in the given circumstances none of the objectives were being achieved as the Chairman being powerless is restricted on decision making.
