It could be from Santa, Pere Noel or La Befana!

NOT ALL youngsters are expecting Father Christmas to squeeze his portly frame down the chimney and eat a mince pie before leaving the eagerly anticipated presents.

In many parts of Europe, including Holland and Belgium, good children had a visit from St Nicholas on December 6.

With a sack full of presents, St Nic is sometimes joined by Black Pieter. In Hungary, he visits children in the guise of Mikulas.

Pere Noel makes his way to homes in France and the angel Christkind takes to the skies of Germany.

Kind good witch, La Befana, leaves presents for Italians and Baboushka joins Grandfather Frost to bring festive cheer in Russia.
