It all adds up for new health chief; PENKRIDGE.

AN ACCOUNTANT has joined the board of a health group running two hospitals in Staffordshire.

Roger Carder, from Penkridge, has become a non-executive director of Mid Staffordshire General Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Cannock Chase and Staffordshire General.

The father of two is a director of PricewaterhouseCoopers and has held a number of senior management roles with major accountancy firms.

Mr Carder has agreed a four-year deal and will earn pounds 5,800 a year.

Toni Brisby, who chairs Mid Staffordshire General Hospitals NHS Trust, said: "I am delighted Roger has joined our strong team of directors.

"His experience and his skills complement our existing team and position us well for the future development of our organisation."

Staffordshire General Hospital cares for more than 145,000 patients a year and Cannock treats 55,000 people annually.
