It's time to honour Katie; Views of the North Views of the North 10/02/15.

IN this day and age the Queen's Birthday Honours seem to be handed out to anyone. Overrated and over paid sportsmen, pop stars, actors and loads of hangers-on.

However wouldn't it be a refreshing change for an ordinary girl to receive such an honour.

Surely Katie Cutler deserves this? Her idea for fund-raising for poor frail Alan Barnes has touched a lot of hearts and has gone a long way to restoring my faith in the youth of today.

It is the likes of Katie and others who do unstinting charity work who are seldom given a second glance.

I would like to think the Journal would lend its weight to such a scheme.
