It's so sad our boy will never know biker dad; New mum grieves for partner.

Byline: Will Lyon

A NEW mum yesterday spoke of her sorrow that her baby son will never know his tragic biker dad.

John McLean, 38, was killed in a motorbike crash on Sunday, six months after partner Lynn Cruickshank gave birth to son Kade. Lynn, 31, also has daughter Keira, five, from her 10-year relationship with Moray Council HGV driver John.

John, from Buckie, Moray, was driving to a motorbike convention when he lost control of his Suzuki GSXR on the A97 near Lumsden, Aberdeenshire, and smashed into a car.

Lynn said yesterday: "He was my life.I'm going to make a big memory box. Kade is never going to know his dad and it's important to keep a record to show how important Johnny was and how much he was loved by so many people."

Lynn added that Keira had adored her dad and wanted to be with him all the time.

She added: "Keira asked me if she could put his picture up on her wall - it was almost like she thought I might say no.

"I said, 'Of course you can. We can get one blown up really big and you can put it on your wall.' He's all she speaks about. He took her for spins on the back of an old motorbike at the start of the summer and she loved it."

John's best friend from primary school, Andy Taylor, was riding beside him when he crashed.

Andy, 38, from Arradoul, said: "He was my best friend. He was the type of person you could rely on with all your problems.

"My first memory of Johnny was when he had a wee retro Chopper pushbike. He was the coolest man on the hill. He was a star."

Family and friends visited the scene of the crash on Tuesday.

Lynn said: "We hammered his Suzuki T-shirt to the fencepost. He died in a beautiful place doing what he loved doing best.

"It's just one of those fluke things. The bike wheel just spun out. It was no one's fault."

A 59-year-old man driving the red Alfa Romeo car and his passenger were not injured.
