It's odds on shy Stephanie.

Byline: By John Gibson

The mutual admiration society of Mersey men on tour will meet here in Coimbra tonight.

No doubt there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth before, public faces firmly in place, all three emerge smiles fixed to do honourable battle.

It has not been the best of introductions to Euro 2004 for Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, and Stephane Henchoz.

Gerrard's blind backpass gifted France a penalty winner, Owen was so ineffectual that his substitution was a relief all round, and Henchoz managed but seven minutes as a Swiss sub against Croatia.

Seemingly essential to Liverpool's defensive sternness, Henchoz has spectacularly taken coach Jakob Kuhn to task having been unable to make the starting line-up of a country not renowned for its depth of talent.

It was the same during qualification when he played only three times.

Indeed, once he and Stephane Chapuisat actually walked out of camp after not being picked by Kuhn for a game against Yugoslavia. The blond one appears expendable to Switzerland which must be a considerable blow to the ego.

However, what's the odds on Henchoz surprisingly starting against Owen and scoring a goal? Well, you name the price because logic says it isn't going to happen.

Shy Stephane hasn't scored once in 82 games with Blackburn, 201 for Liverpool, and 65 for his country.
