It's never too late to play in the sandbox.

Byline: The Register-Guard

FOR MARILYN WILLIAMS, it's all about the adrenaline rush. The 73-year-old tightens her chin strap, adjusts her sunglasses, guns the throttle on her ATV, and roars up and over the Oregon dunes. For her husband, Wes Williams, it's about being young again. "You can come out and play like a bunch of kids, see who can climb the mountain, and get stuck the worst," the 72-year-old said as he prepared to take on the dunes on his fire-engine red ATV.

The Williamses and five of their gray-haired friends spent Tuesday gleefully ripping through the sand together just south of Florence. The group revel both in their age and the hobby they all share. Ken Nelson said,"We're all former dirt bike riders, but we're all too old to balance now."
