It's innovations at Innovate Qatar.

AILYN AGONIA DOHA THE country's premier institutions in innovation including Qatar University, College of North Atlantic Qatar (CNAQ) and Qatar Green Building Council led the roster of exhibitors featured at Innovate Qatar which opened at the Doha Exhibition Centre on Monday.

Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority HE Abdullah bin Hamad al Attiyah inaugurated the country's first dedicated show for new technologies and innovations.

The exhibition will conclude on Wednesday.

Talking to the media on the occasion, HE Attiyah said, "Even though still in its infancy in Qatar, Innovate Qatar has generated tremendous interest among people about the multi-industry innovation- focused exhibition. Next year, we hope to invite all government institutions to exhibit their innovations at Innovate Qatar." Exhibition Manager Rinal Chban underlined the importance of the government's support to the initiative which they intend to host annually. She said, "This exhibition is a labour of love for Fischer-Appelt Qatar. We truly believe that a platform like this can propel Qatar towards becoming a hub of innovations -- both home grown and imported." "Qatar is aiming to achieve numerous large-scale projects in the coming years, and utilising innovations to set global standards in every industry essential for the nation. We are very happy with the successful opening of this show. We look forward to continued Government's support in future also.

Innovation does not end here.

This is just a beginning for us.

Let's see what else we can do for next year's show", she remarked.

A diverse range of innovative technologies feature at the exhibition in the fields of sports, communication, construction and real estate, education, consumer and home electronics, natural resources and green industries and future technologies in industrial, medical and analytical sciences.

Other exhibitors were Al Emadi Hospital, Health Innovations, Qatar Skills Academy, Smart Edge, Qatar Amateur Radio Society and Smart Systems among others.

ILoveQatar.Net features an Entrepreneurship Zone while Red Bull offers some gaming concepts.

Aside from the exhibition, the second day of the show will feature lectures to be led by David Taji-Farouki, President of International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva.

Theuns van der Merwe, consultant with Cedar White Bradley will provide an introduction to intellectual property while Dr Alex Amato, Head of Sustainability at Qatar Green Building Council will talk about the Passivhaus Development in Qatar.

The series of lectures to be hosted by ILoveQatar founder Khalifa Haroon will also have David Banes of MADA Assistive Technology Centre and John Hassard of Al Ahli Hospital.
