It's all set for Ugenya by-election.
It's all systems go for the April 5 Ugenya by-election.
The by-election will test the strength of ODM in Nyanza after the handshake which ended animosity with the ruling party Jubilee. The small parties have vowed to teach ODM a lesson. The campaigns end today after two months.
IEBC returning officer Vincent Saitabau yesterday said they are ready for the D-Day on Friday. He said they have already received all the elections materials and they have also trained personnel.
The seat has attracted four contenders including David Ochieng (MDG), Chris Karan (ODM), Brian Omondi of the Thirdway Alliance and Daniel Juma who will run the Grand Dream Development Party.
Karan lost the seat on August 16 last year after the Court of Appeal threw out his petition. The battle will be between him and former MP Ochieng.
The two were the most visible during the campaigns as they traversed the constituency hunting for votes. Ochieng went door-to-door but Karan opted for rallies with the help of the ODM brigade.
The campaigns were largely peaceful. However, all hell broke loose two days ago when people were injured and seven cars damaged during the campaigns. Chaos erupted when rival ODM and MDG groups clashed at Sihayi on Sunday.
