It's a rap; COMMENT.

RAPPING Huddersfield teacher Jonathan Heeley has been named Teacher Of The Year in the Pride Of Britain Awards. The awards are organised by our sister paper the Daily Mirror and Jonathan - known to his pupils as MC Protractor - has already won the same accolade at the Examiner's Community Awards. He raised the pass rate for maths at the Netherhall Learning Campus in Rawthorpe from 12% to a remarkable 55% in seven years.

Just think how great our education system would be if all teachers were as innovative and dedicated as Jonathan. Many are, but there are also some who simply just tread water.

Everyone remembers their good and bad teachers at school.

Let's hope all schools continually review the quality of their staff and, if they feel someone is not making the grade, do something about it for the pupils' sake.
