It's a fair crop, guv... Police hide speed camera in tractor.

Byline: paul byrne

LOOKS like police will have a field day catching speeding drivers with this tactic - hiding an officer in a tractor on the side of a rural road.

But furious motorists have accused them of being sneaky.

One outraged biker, who took this shot of what appears to be a policeman in a tractor with a speedgun, also claimed traffic officers are hiding in horseboxes.

The witness said: "I couldn't believe it when I saw the horsebox and the tractor. I don't think they should be hiding cameras."

The snap was said to have been taken at Sledmere, East Yorkshire. But Humberside Police defended the tactic, which is aimed largely at bikers.

Insp Mark Hughes said putting cameras in vehicles "conforms to guidance" and added: "We regularly record speeds of over 100mph. This is aimed at those who insist on driving at dangerously high speeds."
