It's a drag..I do look like Julie; Wannabe's fury at Cowell taunt.

Byline: Carolyn Churchill

TALENT show hopeful Josh McGuire said yesterday he was furious at bitchy judge Simon Cowell's 'drag queen' jibe.

The gay hairdresser from Glasgow admitted he DID look like Julie Andrews - just as X Factor judge Cowell said.

But he told Scots telly star Lorraine Kelly yesterday he would never dress as a woman. Cowell greeted Josh's performance on Saturday's show by saying he should find work as a drag queen.

Josh, 28, threw a tantrum, even threatening to bring in his lawyers.

On Lorraine's show LK Today yesterday, he said: 'I was offended. I believed I could be whoever they were looking for.

'I thought, 'They are looking for this X factor and I am that person'.

'When I left, I felt a bit crushed, with tears in my eyes.

'I was there for two days and passed four auditions to get to that stage. It wasn't as if I just walked in off the street and sang. It was very contrived.'

Josh, who is also a make-up artist, released a single in the 1990s.

Viewers of the TV talent show saw Cowell tell him: 'If I was going to give you some career advice I would say you should be more of a drag queen.

'Louis (fellow judge Louis Walsh) said after you left the room you remind him of Julie Andrews.'

Josh told Lorraine he had not been offended by the comparison.

He said: 'My mum was always told I looked a bit like her. We are both very well-groomed. She's the most beautiful, gorgeous, loveliest little person.'

Josh, who has lived with the same boyfriend for 11years, admits he has regular manicures and uses fake tan and make-up. But he added: 'I'm a high-maintenance boy. I'm never going to put on a dress.'

Josh appears on billboards and posters across his home city as one of the faces of the 'Glasgow, We're Every Kind of People' campaign.
