It's Time to ``Fall Back'' and Take Back the Hour at HGI(TM); Hilton Garden Inn(R) Hotels Offer Late Check-out For Guests to Adjust to Time Change.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- It's that time of the year to set clocks and watches back one hour to signal the end of Daylight Saving Time -- and at Hilton Garden Inn(R) (HGI) hotels, every clock in every guestroom will automatically adjust itself one hour back to Standard Time(a) -- so guests and hotel staff don't have to. To commemorate the "falling back" of time, Hilton Garden Inn today announced the Take Back the Hour At HGI(TM) special promotion that extends a late check-out time of 2 p.m. to guests on Sunday, October 30, at participating hotels, without an additional charge. By offering guests two more hours to check-out (from the standard 12 noon check-out), Hilton Garden Inn will give guests time to adjust back to Standard Time while simultaneously allowing them to enjoy that extra hour of sleep.

All Hilton Garden Inn guestrooms feature the innovative HGI clock that allows guests to play their MP3 or portable CD player. The HGI clock also features an automatic daily alarm time set, preventing an alarm set by a previous guest from repeating. Hotel staff need only set the time zone information once and the clocks automatically adjust one hour ahead for Daylight Saving Time and back to Standard Time, and adjust for Leap Year.

"Hilton Garden Inn began the late check-out promotion last year to commemorate the end of Daylight Saving Time with a 2 p.m. late check-out for our guests," said Adrian Kurre, senior vice president -- brand management for Hilton Garden Inn. "Because traveling can be challenging enough, we wanted to offer our guests a way to adjust and ease into the 'falling back' and the 'springing forward' of time and with clocks that automatically adjust to the time, that's one less worry for our guests, and they can enjoy those extra hours at the hotel to catch up on sleep, relax by the pool or enjoy a late breakfast."

When guests check-in to a participating Hilton Garden Inn hotel, the front desk will extend to them the special promotion in honor of the upcoming time change. Often a challenging day for travelers, Hilton Garden Inn will begin offering the 2 p.m. late check-out to guests at the end of Daylight Saving Time on the last Sunday of October, and when time "springs forward" and Daylight Saving Time begins on the first Sunday of April.

About Daylight Saving Time

Daylight Saving Time was instituted in the United States during World War I in order to save energy for war production by taking advantage of the later hours of daylight between April and October. During World War II the federal government again required the states to observe the time change.

Between the wars and after World War II, states and communities chose whether or not to observe Daylight Saving Time. In 1966, Congress passed the Uniform Time Act, which standardized the length of Daylight Saving Time. While still widely practiced across the United States, Arizona, Hawaii, parts of Indiana, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and American Samoa have chosen not to observe Daylight Saving Time.
