It's Scouts honours!

A group of East Cleveland District Scouts chiefs have been recognised nationally for outstanding service.

The following were awarded a Medal of Merit: Mike Huggins, district secretary; Roy Sharp, honorary scouter of 1st Loftus Scout Group.

Silver Acorns went to: Tony Gell, district scout leader, Kettleness; Dennis Palmer, honorary scouter, 1st Marske Barn Owls Scout Group; Ian Scrutton, district treasurer; Ray Silver, group scout leader, 1st Loftus Scout Group; Terry Sunley, group scout leader, 3rd Guisborough Scout Group; Derek Whitwell, group scout leader, 1st Saltburn Scout Group.

Medals and certificates were presented at the District AGM by Colonel Michael Stewart, East Cleveland district president, and David Clark, Cleveland County Commissioner.

Jeff Lawson, district chairman, said: "These awards are just reward for the dedication and service to scouting by all the recipients."
