Israeli raids kill three in Gaza Strip.
Previously, two Palestinians were killed and seven were injured overnight in two Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip a few hours after Israeli officer was seriously injured in a blast along the border between Gaza and Israel. In addition, Israel announced Wednesday morning that at least three people were injured by the rocket firing.
Palestinians have been killed and injured during two attacks in the northern Gaza Strip, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Health of the Hamas government. The Palestinians who were killed were part of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.
The spokesman for the Israeli army confirmed the news and said that two raids attacked two groups of Palestinians who were preparing to fire rockets into southern Israel. "More than six rockets were also fired from the Gaza Strip in three hours," added the spokesman.
The spokesman also reported a third airstrike in the Gaza Strip against Palestinians who were preparing to fire rockets. According to the spokesman, 60 rockets were fired into southern Israel since the beginning of October.
The raids took place a few hours after an Israeli officer was seriously injured by an explosive device along the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip . "An army officer was seriously injured this morning during a routine patrol near the security fence in the central Gaza Strip," said a military spokesman, adding that he was evacuated by helicopter to an Israeli hospital.
The incident occurred shortly before the historic visit to Gaza by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the first by a head of state into the Palestinian enclave since Hamas took control in June 2007 .
