Israeli forces heavily deployed around Al-Aqsa mosque.
Ramallah, Feb. 19 (Petra) - Israeli occupation forces, early Tuesday, were heavily deployed in Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards, mainly around the Bab al-Rahmeh gate, Palestinian sources said.
Israeli soldiers also provided protection for the extremist Jewish settlers, who broke into the Muslim's holy shrine and entered the Bab al-Rahmeh gate to provoke the Palestinian worshippers .
Head of Public Relations at the Islamic Awqaf in Jerusalem, Firas Debs, said in a statement that Israeli police started removing the metal chains and locks leading to Bab al-Rahmeh, but kept the area closed.
Yesterday, and after Dhuhr prayer, a number of Muslims worshipers destroyed the iron chains and the lock placed by the occupation forces, who severely beaten the worshipers and arrested a number of them.
"A large number of Palestinians responded to calls circulated on social media networks to come to the mosque and perform prayers in the Bab al-Rahmeh area," Debs added.
