Isle of Fire sets silly safety rules aflame.

Barry R has often led the way in matters industrial, economic and cultural. Consider, for instance, Barry Docks, Butlins and Gavin and Stacey.

The town could now be blazing the trail in ridding the country of idiotic health and safety rules, and the killjoys who impose them.

The thought crossed my mind as I joined the happy crowds at the Isle of Fire show on Barry Island.

As the name suggests, there was a lot of fire, including a walk-through archway, fire-breathing, mechanical passion flowers and a flaming Viking Ship "sailing" on the prom.

There were no overbearing health and safety police to enforce ridiculous regulations. Instead, people were allowed to use their own intelligence and enjoy themselves. How refreshing.
