Island of temptation.

A controversial TV show in which couples are marooned on a desert island while sexy singles try to seduce them is coming to UK screens.

Sky One beat off competition from BBC, ITV and Channel 5 to win the rights to the US show Temptation Island, which will be screened from next week.

Sky is rewriting its schedules to squeeze the new show in from Thursday January 18.

The programme instantly ran into hot water in the US with critics decrying the idea of setting people up to be tempted to stray from relationships.

In the series four couples are taken to a deserted island for two weeks. However, the couples are surrounded by 13 scantily clad members of the opposite sex whose aim is to try to seduce them over six one-hour episodes.
