Ishaq Dar making efforts to escape from accountability: Shahzad Akbar.
ISLAMABAD -- Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar on Wednesday said that former finance minister Ishaq Dar was making efforts to escape from corruption cases, media reported.
Talking about Dar's plea for political asylum in Britain, Shahzad Akbar said that the government had provided concrete evidences against Ishaq Dar to the British authorizes so as to extradite the former finance minister to Pakistan.
Pakistan and the United Kingdom had signed a memorandum of understanding to extradite accused, he said and added that Ishaq Dar was an absconder.
Shahzad Akbar said that Dar should face the cases and prove his innocence in the courts. Dar should not worry from cases, if he had not committed corruption, said the special assistant.
He said that UK Home Office would decide about the Dar's plea for political asylum. Law and order situation had improved and judiciary was independent in the country, the special assistant said and added that in the prevailing situation Dar would fail to prove him innocent before the authorities.
