Is this an image we will love?
City councillors have only just dismissed plans for more lap dancing clubs fearing they would undermine our Centre of Culture tag. And now this plan comes along.
The man behind the love hotel, night club king Tommy Caulker, argues it wouldn't be a knocking shop but a place to go with your partner for a fun, luxurious time, with rooms boasting whirlpool baths and furry walls.
But licensing committee chairman Isabelle Cooney has her doubts and says the concept sounds nothing short of "a brothel".
The hotel is planned for the World Headquarters nightclub in Carliol Square and if it got the go-ahead would be open for business next summer.
Mr Caulker also argues that it's accepted that couples go to hotels for sex, and like he says, why should they pay for the whole night when they're only wanting to spend a couple of hours in the room?
At the end of the day people are always going to do what comes naturally and doing it in a hotel room has got to be better than out on the streets.
But is this really the image we want to give out to the rest of the country?
