Is it worth it? Claire Rees tried the new Paradise Signature treatment at The Marine Spa, St David's Hotel, Cardiff Bay.

What they say This exclusive spa package brings you a lavish therapy - harmonious to the mind, working to increase peace, prosperity and happiness to the body, aiding in complete utopia.

What we say Using a hot poultice filled with Thai herbs and coconut, my therapist Billie began with a slow Thai-style massage to my face and scalp, working the warm pouch from the feet, legs, back arms and shoulders. The feet massage was lovely. The soles of my feet are always very sensitive and Billie worked into the aches before moving onto the calves where the same amount of intense pressure was applied. If you like a really deep massage, you may need to ask your therapist to be tougher, as I did. This treatment is geared towards total relaxation. The smell was almost marzipan-like and the temperature warm rather than hot, but again, you can request the poultice is heated in the steamer longer.

After effects The drainage movements worked on the sweat glands to remove toxins, and I felt cleansed and relaxed afterwards, without the headache I usually get from a massage. I loved the fact that at one hour and 25 minutes it felt extra special and gave me real time out. Plus, you get a glass of champagne, to sip in the womb-like relaxation room or overlooking the Bay in your robe. What more could you ask for? * The one-hour and 25 minute Paradise Signature Treatment at The Marine Spa, St David's Hotel, is pounds 69, including use of the spa facilities and a glass of champagne.
