Is an apprenticeship the right path for you?
BEING an apprentice gives you the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification and develop professional skills while earning a salary - making it an excellent career choice for anyone who has just left school.
As you will know, to get started in the world of work you usually need a combination of experience and qualifications. An apprenticeship provides you with both and is a viable alternative to sixth form and university.
ACT is Wales' leading training provider and has hundreds of apprenticeship vacancies and training opportunities specifically for young people. If you have not heard of ACT already, then why not look it up..
Over the last 12 months, ACT has helped more than 9,000 young people achieve their career ambitions by way of its apprenticeship and traineeship programmes.
ACT is committed to offering you the best apprenticeship opportunities in Wales. Its apprenticeships span more than 30 different sectors, including marketing, business, IT, finance, management, social media and care - as well as the traditional apprenticeship programmes such as hair and beauty, hospitality, manufacturing and retail.
They work with more than 700 Welsh employers, including British Gas, NatWest, Barclays, Radisson Blu, Wessex Garage as well as successful small businesses like Terry's Patisserie and The Vanilla Rooms, and provide a range of exciting apprenticeship vacancies, all with excellent benefits and progression opportunities.
If you are not quite ready for an apprenticeship, ACT offers a traineeship programme that is an ideal way to help you become work ready.
A traineeship is a preapprenticeship training programme that prepares 16-18 year olds for the world of work. Having spent most of your time in school, you will need a helping hand progressing from education to the workplace - and this is what a traineeship is for.
By signing up to a traineeship you will get: ? Paid between PS30 and PS50 a week plus travel expenses ? An exciting work experience placement with a top employer in Wales ? Employability training to help you stand out in the job market - including CV writing, interview preparation and job searching ? English and maths training if you need to improve your skills in these areas ? All the support you need to progress onto the next stage of your life. ACT has excellent learner satisfaction results with 89% of learners rating ACT as excellent. What is more, ACT has a success rate of 85% - which means a very high proportion of its learners successfully complete their training.
