Irish top poll of EU satisfaction.

IRISH people are the most satisfied European Union members, a new survey revealed yesterday.

Nearly nine out of 10 people in the Republic feel Ireland has benefited from EU membership.

Unlike other nationalities among the 25 member states, more than half of Irish people support the idea of a European constitution.

And over half think more poor countries should be allowed to join in the economic success guaranteed by EU membership.

Nearly 30,000 people from across Europe were interviewed between May 9 and June 14 for the European Commission survey.
