Byline: By DEMELZA de BURCA

REPUBLIC of Loose, Gemma Hayes and Laura Izibor are set to provide the soundtrack to this year's Irish Oscar party in LA next month.

The acts will provide the musical entertainment at the fourth annual Oscar Wilde: Honoring The Irish In Film night, which takes place on February 19.

Chief executive of Culture Ireland, Eugene Downes, said: "This event was created to provide an opportunity for people in the Irish and US film industries to meet in hopes that collaborations would come of it.

"Music is often an integral part of films and if it also brings attention to promising Irish singers and songwriters, all the better."

Among those being celebrated at the gala event are Brendan Gleeson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Hylda Queally, the Clare-born agent who looks after the likes of Cate Blanchett and Penelope Cruz.
