Irene C. Adamaitis, 93Worcester - Irene C. (Kersis) Adamaitis, 93, of Worcester died January 27, at the Rose Monahan Residence.She leaves three daughters, Irene M. of Worcester; Carolyn M. Martin and her husband Steve and their children Christina and Jonathan of Plano,Texas; and Joan A. Agerholm and her husband John of Mount Rainier, Maryland. She also leaves her niece Dianne Paluses and her nephew Robert Paluses along with her good friends Theresa Grandmaison and Diana Kolesnik. A graduate of Classical High School she went to Salter Secretarial School and worked at Radio Station WTAG at the City of Worcester Health Department conducting a weekly 15 minute radio program for the Department and then as office manager for Cusette Foundations, Inc. until her marriage to John C. Adamaitis in 1947. Active in school groups she was the President of the Worcester Council of Schools Parents' Group u the forerunner of Parent Advisory Councils. Proud of her Lithuanian heritage she was a member of the Lithuanian Women's Club, Lithuanian Roman Catholic Women's Alliance Chapter 69, Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Lithuania Council 116 and a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher all at Our Lady of Vilna Church. She also enjoyed many fine cultural events as a member of the Lithuanian Charitable Society at Maironis Park and enjoyed vacations at the Franciscan Lithuanian Guest House in Kennebunkport, Maine.Irene decided to go to college and was graduated, summa cum laude, in 1980, from Worcester State College where she was the recipient of the outstanding academic achievement award from the English Department. She taught Latin, French and Spanish at Doherty and South High Schools.Irene's concelebrated Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, February 4, at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St., with burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday, February 3 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street. worcesterfuneral.com
